Eurol in Dakar: Day 4 plenty of top results

It seems easy to get used to, but also today the Dakar 2020 participants who maintain their technicals with Eurol lubricants scored big time. Nasser Al-Attiyah once again took a podium place in the fourth stage, which shows the Qatari still drives the tactical road in which he wants to win the rally.

Nasser Al-Attiyah finished second with his Toyota HiLux only 2.26 minutes behind the winner, he immediately took five minutes on number one in the overall ranking, the difference is only three minutes now. Al-Attiyah is now also almost 9 minutes free of the number 3 in the general classification, in which things goes so fast that every second really counts. Fernando Alonso today went a little less fast than yesterday, but with a thirteenth place every other rookie would be more than satisfied!

But there was more success, with Giniel de Villiers today at seven and Dutchman Bernhard ten Brinke in eighth place of today’s result. At the new, mandatory 15-minute break for the fuel stop, Ten Brinke was one of the fastest of all rankings. In the final phase he crossed the finish line with a flat tire, once again he had used up all the spares. Still an amazing result, considering Ten Brinke is battling a fierce flu. The Coronel brothers also had a great day, which resulted in The Beast buggy being the second-best Dutch car.

From the outside yesterday seemed a walk in the park for Kees Koolen and Jurgen van den Goorbergh in the side-by-side, but afterwards it turned out that a lot had happened. Especially the clutch of the CVT automatic was problematic, on top of which a number of flat tires and a broken stabilizer bar were added. Even today, the time screens again indicated good intervals, but there is a good chance that they will achieve this again by continuing to work hard on the vehicle.

Trucks

Gert Huzink, Rob Buursen and Martin Roesink were finally rewarded for their work in the Renault C460 Hybrid Edition. After working on technical challenges for days, the Renault started late, but then it went as it should today, with a shiny fifth place as a reward. Add to that the nice eighth place of Pascal de Baar, and both race trucks of Riwald Racing today scored a Top 10 result. That didn't work at Mammoet Rallysport, Martin van den Brink clocked a twelfth time on arrival, with some other trucks in the course that still might go quicker. Team Mammoet thereby strengthens its position in the Top 15.
