Campeonato W2RC Toyota GAZOO Racing de Nasser Al Attiyah.

Eurol partner Toyota in the W2RC championship

After winning the Dakar Rally earlier this year, Toyota GAZOO Racing's Nasser Al-Attiyah and co-pilot Mathieu Baumel face their next challenge with the team. Round 2 of the 2022 World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) kicks off on March 4 with the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. Eurol is also supporting Nasser and Mathieu in this competition.

Ahead in the W2RC standings

After 28 editions of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies, is this the first year of the W2RC. Nasser won the Cross-Country series five times and Mathieu Baumel is a four-time World Cup winner. Nasser and Mathieu are entering round 2 of the W2RC with a provisional first position, in total they have collected 85 points during the Dakar Rally. Sebastien Loeb (BRX) is on 84 points. Yazeed Al Rajhi is in third place in the rankings, 34 points behind the leader.

Toyota GAZOO Racing's participation in the W2RC confirms the team's commitment to motorsports. Toyota is committed to building "better and better" cars and has forged people and cars by participating in a series of demanding races in various categories. Few categories in motorsports are as demanding as rally-raid racing. Toyota's participation in this discipline enables the company to build cars that excite drivers every time they get in the car and generate a feeling to drive even more.

The 2022 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will have a ceremonial start on March 4, at the famous Yas Marina Circuit. This will be followed by five days of hard racing through the Liwa Desert, before the event concludes on Thursday, March 10, at the Yas Marina Circuit. Nasser and Mathieu dominated this event last year, winning by more than 20 minutes. The TGR team will be looking to repeat this feat in 2022.

Glyn Hall, Team Principal: "We are excited to continue our journey with the GR DKR Hilux T1+, which was unbeatable in the hands of Nasser and Mathieu in this year's Dakar Rally. The next round of the W2RC is crucial for the championship, given the small margin we have at the top of the standings. But more than that, it also provides crucial test kilometers, which will play an important role in the further development of the Dakar-winning car."
