Time savings in rubble recycling

In rubble recycling, it all comes down to maximum uptime and minimal downtime. In this case study, we show how switching to a high-quality grease led to a more efficient start-up process, reduced maintenance, and significant savings in both time and energy.
Situation Description

At a rubble recycling company, there were recurring issues with starting up a rubble crusher. Before the first drum rotation could occur, the machine had to be manually set in motion (“rocked”) to get into rhythm. This process required significant time and physical effort and also led to increased energy consumption and unnecessary downtime.
In addition, the drum bearings had to be lubricated daily. Each lubrication session took an average of 1.5 hours, during which the machine was completely out of operation.

Solution

Since switching to Eurol Grease CS-2/103-S, manual movement of the drum is no longer necessary. The first rotation now occurs fully automatically. This has significantly smoothed the start-up process and reduced start-up time, allowing the machine to become operational more quickly. Thanks to the product’s excellent lubrication properties and long service life, lubrication is now only required weekly instead of daily. This results in a reduction of 9 hours of downtime per week and a significant energy saving—directly contributing to higher productivity and lower operational costs.
