Nasser Al-Attiyah has won the 2022 Dakar Rally. The Qatari was victorious after a long and tough 12 stages. It’s Al-Attiyah’s 4th win of his Dakar career.

Al-Attiyah had a faultless race from the first day and took a big margin on the second stage. That helped him to control the race and he stayed in control from that point on. “I feel really great, I’m happy to win the race”, Al-Attiyah said. “I would like to thank Toyota GAZOO racing for doing an amazing job during these days. I thank everyone for the support during this race.”

The South African was hindered by technical problems earlier in the rally, but showed his potential on several occasions. Giniel de Villiers was in the hunt for the podium for a long time, but had to settle for 5th place overall. It was a good comeback for the man who experienced a pretty difficult first week. Shameer Variawa showed constant progress over the two weeks, he ended up in 15th place after a good display in the second half of the rally.

Bernhard ten Brinke

Bernhard ten Brinke wasn’t prepared to do the Dakar, but got the call and he was ready. Despite some back luck early on, the Dutchman had a decent race with a 17th place in the general classification. Now, Ten Brinke is looking forward to make plans for a comeback in 2023.

Mammoet Team De Rooy Iveco

Martin van den Brink had a great race in his first participation with the Mammoet Rallysport Iveco Torpedo. Mitchel van den Brink finished his second Dakar Rally in 10th place, which is a great achievement for the young Dutchman. Van den Brink junior proved he’s a worthy fast assistance during the Dakar Rally.
