Eurol in Dakar: Al-Attiyah wins first part of marathon stage

Nasser Al-Attiyah has taken his second stage win of the 2019 Dakar Rally and is leading the overall classification as of the fourth stage. Eurol supports the brave teams who are participating in the 2019 Dakar and report on their achievements.

Toyota GAZOO Racing

Al-Attiyah had a faultless day during 352 kilometres long stage. He and co-driver Mathieu Baumel took the advantage of multiple Dakar winner Stephane Peterhansel and took their second stage win of the rally. With another win in the bag, Al-Attiyah is now leading the race with an advantage of almost nine minutes.

The proper teamspirit was felt within the Toyota Gazoo Racing team. When Bernhard ten Brinke hit trouble in the early stages of the race, Giniel de Villiers offered his race own position to help his Dutch teammate. Ten Brinke had a suspension failure and together with De Villiers they worked hard to repair the car. De Villiers finished an hour and a half down to winner Al-Attiyah while Ten Brinke finished three hours down.

Tim & Tom Coronel

After a great start to the rally, the Coronel brothers hit their first trouble on Thursday. They got stuck on a piste full of feshfesh and after a lenghty delay, they could carry on.

Mammoet Rallysport

With Martin van den Brink out of the race, Janus van Kasteren has to defend the honours of the Mammoet Rallysport formation. The young Dutchman is doing well at the moment, he finished seventh in the truck race on Thursday.

Riwald Dakar

Gert Huzink from the Riwald Dakar Team finished in the top ten as wel with a well placed nined spot.
