Next level lubrication of the racing bike

Next level lubrication of the racing bike

How do you keep a racing bike or mountain bike in optimal condition? What are the benefits of a bike that is cleaned and lubricated with professional products? Read this article and make a difference on the bike and in the workshop.

In this article, we delve into the use of various Eurol Specialty lubricants for the racing bike, mountain bike, and BMX. These specialized products are widely used in practice for professional use with heavy machinery and vehicles and in the rally and racing world. However, the excellent lubricating properties of our Specialty lubricants with SYNGIS Technology also seamlessly meet the requirements for (sports) bikes, which often endure heavy loads and muddy conditions. Did you know that Laura Smulders and Twan van Gendt became world champions partly due to the use of Eurol Specialty products?

Professional advantage

The major advantage of using Eurol Specialty products is preserving the value of the racing bike or mountain bike and preventing unnecessary wear and replacement costs of bicycle parts. Moreover, the excellent lubrication reduces energy loss. So, a mountain biker or cyclist can go faster or requires less bodily energy to achieve the same athletic performance.

Start with cleaning

Proper lubrication starts with good cleaning. Especially the open gears, bicycle chain, and derailleurs need to be thoroughly cleaned. The Specialty Swift Clean 110 is an excellent all-rounder for completely evaporating and thorough cleaning. Complete evaporation is important so that no cleaner residue remains that could affect the performance of the lubricant to be applied afterwards.

The usage is simple. Clean the chain and derailleur by spraying them and rotating the chain in a clean cloth. Repeat this until no more dirt comes off the chain. Let the chain and derailleur dry for a while.

Lubrication advice

Next, we move on to lubrication. In addition to the chain and derailleur, the headset, bottom bracket, and wheel bearings play a crucial role in keeping the bike running smoothly. By properly lubricating these parts, you prevent unnecessary friction and reduce wear and corrosion. For lubricating the headset, bottom bracket, and wheel bearings, we recommend Eurol Specialty Grease CS-2/103-S. This grease is known for its unmatched properties in terms of anti-wear and anti-corrosion. Additionally, the grease is highly water-resistant and does not "bleed", allowing it to continue its protective work for a long time.

For the chain and derailleurs, we recommend Eurol Lube PL as a dry lubricant. Spray the derailleur and apply Eurol Lube PL to the chain links while rotating the pedals. Give the Eurol Lube PL enough time to penetrate and dry on the chain. This is at least 15 minutes, but preferably a longer time. This advanced lubricant creates a clean and dry layer on the chain, reducing the chance of dirt and sand adhering to it. With excellent water-resistant anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties, your chain will continue to run smoothly, even under demanding conditions.

To maintain optimal performance, we recommend lubricating the chain, derailleur, headset, bottom bracket, and wheel bearings at least once per season. Regularly monitor the condition of the grease and lubricant and apply more if necessary.

Do you want to biodegradable lubricate? We also have Specialty products available for this purpose. Are you manufacturing or assembling bikes (OEM), representing a cycling team, or running a professional bike workshop? Then contact us. We are happy to provide you with a live demonstration to demonstrate the performance of Eurol Specialty products and, if desired, compare them with the products you currently use.
