Toyota GAZOO Racing introduces the Toyota GR DKR Hilux T1 Dakar 2022

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing presents new Toyota Hilux for Dakar 2022

The Toyota factory team has been working hard to develop a new Hilux for the 2022 Dakar rally: the Toyota GR DKR Hilux T1+!

The new Toyota has received many changes compared to the last version such as a larger chassis, larger 37-inch tires and a increased suspension travel. Under the hood, the car is now equipped with a 3.5 litre twin-turbo powered petrol V6 engine, sourced from the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300, as used in the striking new GR-S version of the iconic vehicle. In standard form, the engine produces 305 kW of power at 5,200 rpm and 650 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm. However, in race trim those numbers are significantly higher.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will participate with 4 teams in the upcoming Dakar Rally, which starts in Saudi Arabia on January 2nd, 2022. As in 2021, the factory team is led by Nasser Al-Attiyah and navigator Mathieu Baumel. Other team members are Giniel de Villiers with navigator Dennis Murphy, Henk Lategan with Navigator Brett Cummings and Shameer Variawa with with navigator Danie Stassen.
