Holiday travels by car? 5 useful tips for your fluids!

Are you heading out on a road trip by car this summer? Good preparation is key to avoiding breakdowns or problems along the way. One of the most important parts of this preparation is checking your vehicle’s fluids. In this article, we share five practical tips to help you travel safely and worry-free.
1. Check your engine oil level

Engine oil is crucial for lubricating and cooling your engine. Check the oil level with the dipstick before departure and top up if necessary. If you're towing a caravan or carrying a heavy load, it's especially important to ensure the oil level is sufficient, as the engine will be under more stress. Has it been a while since the oil and oil filter were changed? If so, make sure to take care of that beforehand. Unsure which motor oil to use? The product advisor will help you find the right oil in just seconds.

2. Inspect the cooling system and coolant

Make sure the coolant reservoir is properly filled. With the Eurol product advisor you can easily find out which coolant is best suited for your vehicle. A well-filled cooling system prevents engine overheating, especially during long drives or when towing a caravan or trailer. To prevent issues or seal minor leaks, Eurol Radiator Sealer can be used.

3. Refill the windscreen washer reservoir

During long drives, your wipers often get a workout from insects, dust, and rain. That’s why it’s important to ensure the windscreen washer reservoir is filled with an effective screenwash. Eurol Summerwash ready-to-use is a powerful windscreen washer fluid that leaves a fresh scent and is safe for rubber, paint, and polycarbonate surfaces.

4. Support your engine with additives

During a holiday drive, engines often run longer and under greater load. Additionally, fuel quality or octane levels may be lower than what you're used to. Eurol fuel additives help keep your engine clean on the inside, enhance performance, and reduce fuel consumption. Specific fuel additives are available for both petrol and diesel engines. The additive advisor helps you choose the right product and also provides a handy FAQ about additives.

5. Bring extra fluids with you

Keeping a small supply of fluids in your boot ensures you're prepared for unexpected situations. Consider packing a one-litre bottle of motor oil, a litre of coolant, a two-litre bottle of windscreen washer fluid, and fuel additives. These products are available at your nearest Eurol retailer.
