Eurol focuses on performance and sustainability in Dakar Rally 2023

The 2023 Dakar Rally is about to begin. On New Year's Eve, the start will take place in Saudi Arabia for the first of 14 stages in the world's toughest rally. Eurol is supporting three teams: Toyota GAZOO Racing, Eurol Team De Rooy Iveco and the Riwald Dakar team. With the support of these teams the Dutch lubricant manufacturer has high hopes for another international success.

Dakar-winning technology

Eurol supports the Dakar teams with specialized products and technical support. Just like the Dakar vehicles, the lubricants must also be of unparalleled quality and reliability. That is why the Eurol Dakar teams rely on the Eurol Specialty product line with SYNGIS Technology, which has been specially developed for extreme conditions in earth-moving, heavy industry, agri, infra and racing, among other segments.

Flying start

The Eurol racing line introduced in 2021 is also part of the Specialty family and has been a great success in the rally and racing world. This was partly due to its flying start with this year's Dakar victory by Toyota GAZOO Racing. Driver Nasser Al-Attiyah and navigator Mathieu Baumel sent the Toyota Hilux T1+ across the finish line in first place. Both men also managed to win this year's World Rally- Raid Championship (W2RC). The Dakar Rally is also part of the new world championship since this year.

For 2023 Toyota GAZOO Racing is one of the top favourites in the Dakar car classification. Besides Nasser and Mathieu, the team relies on promising young South African talent Henk Lategan with navigator Brett Cummings and South African former Dakar winner Giniel de Villiers with navigator Dennis Murphy.

De Rooy in a new look

The new Eurol Team De Rooy Iveco, with three renowned Iveco's at the start, are high potentials in the truck classification. The great final rankings in 2022 of Martin van den Brink, Rijk Mouw and Erik Kofman (P6) and Mitchel van den Brink, Jarno van de Pol and Moisès Torrallardona (P10) give confidence, especially now Mitchel will be driving for his own chances with a new lighter nose truck. Both men will be supported by Nico Stijnen, Joël Ebbers and Christiaan van der Haar in a fast assistance truck. With the new Eurol livery, the three Iveco trucks are real eye-catchers in the desert.

New opportunities for the hybrid truck

Gert Huzink, Rob Buursen and Martin Roesink of the Riwald Dakar team will appear at the start with an all-new hybrid Renault truck from MKR Technology. The test results of the new truck have been mixed in recent months, however a strong upward trend has been visible in recent weeks. In any case, the lubrication of the hybrid drive system will not be a problem. Eurol Specialty Grease CS-2/103-S has proven to effortlessly lubricate the wheel bearings and joints of the drive axles.
