Eurol in Dakar: Ten Brinke gains a spot in the general classification

Eurol supports the competitors in the Dakar Rally. On Sunday all Eurol-teams finished the second part of the marathon stage succesfully and heard that they will have a day off on monday.

Bernhard ten Brinke decided to drive offensive in the eighth stage of the Dakar Rally. He did well because he ended the stage in fourth place and took the same spot again in the general classification. Ten Brinke was very positive about the last days and eyes a podium spot at the finish. Peter van Merksteijn and Tim Coronel were also on a serious pace on Sunday. Both of them finished well placed. Van Merksteijn came home 15th and consolidated his top-10 spot in the classification. Tim and Tom Coronel scored their best result of the week in 27th place, they get on top of their car more and more.

Jurgen van den Goorbergh was in a hurry when he heard that Monday’s stage was called off. The former 500cc-rider in the malle moto class prepared himself after the stage for a long liasion to Argentina where they would stop for a well earned Argentinian steak. Van den Goorbergh finished in 48th place on Sunday. Kees Koolen came home in eighth place in a long stage. Bas Nijen Twilhaar followed on 22nd position.

Gert Huzink was the best of the Eurol-trucks on stage 8. Huzink finished in 17th and is in general now 12th. Steven Rotsaert finished the stage in 20th spot, Janus van Kasteren followed closely in 21st.

The organisation of the Dakar decided Sunday that they would cancel stage 9 of the Dakar to Salta due to weather conditions.
