Eurol in Dakar: Van den Goorbergh suffers during tenth stage

Eurol supports the competitors of the 2018 Dakar Rally. After an unforseen second rest day the competitors of the Dakar Rally went further on their tour through Argentina. On the way to Belén participants found a long and very demanding stage.

Jurgen van den Goorbergh thought that the Dakar couldn’t be harder. But they – the organisation – proved him wrong. “I’m done”, Van den Goorbergh said afterwards. “You think they can’t make these thing any more crazy. It’s been 7 PM and I have suffered a lot today. I tried to finish before darkness came and I barely made it. That’s a strong performance. The last part was very hard because of navigation and rocks. What a day but I have no damage, so that’s good.”

After being part of a big hype in the bivouac on monday, Kees Koolen could focus on racing again. Koolen finished in 12th position. Bas Nijen Twilhaar lost a lot of time and wasn’t able to start the second part of the stage.

Bernhard ten Brinke had another solid day during the 10th stage. Ten Brinke finished fifth during the stage and consolidated his spot in the general classification. Peter van Merksteijn did the same and is still ninth overall. Tim and Tom Coronel did a good stage once again and finished in the top-30.

Gert Huzink was the best Eurol-driver in the truck category. Steven Rotsaert en Janus van Kasteren finished in the back of the truck field after they had their own struggles during the day.
